This book is just OK in my opinion with regard to prepping for the EAS exam. If you purchase the sample EAS exam from Pearson, you will see that the question formatting is very different from what appears in this book - for that reason, it gets 3 stars from me. What's good about it is that is has 2 practice exams - at the very least, it will give you a chance to get into the rhythm of taking the exam and practice with writing the essays. I recommend that you purchase the sample exam directly from Pearson ($20 - it also provides a score at the end and tells you what you got wrong) in conjunction with this book to give you the best overview of the actual exam.
I have now taken the ALST, EAS and Multi-Subject CST and used this book as a study guide. I found it very helpful and passed all of the tests. It's really important to take the practice tests and read through all of the explanations of the answers. Even if the questions on the actual test differ, you will notice a pattern and be able to predict what the answer will be on the test (especially for the EAS). Hope this helps!
I joined an Alternative teachers preparation program in which i had a to pass all my exams by the end of Aug. This book was really great , i received almost a perfect score on the EAS and ALST. I wish they had included something for the High School Multi-subject Exam as well which is what i had to take. However part three is the same in all Multi-subject test. I would recommend this book to everyone, everyone in my Current program has used it (14 total) and passed all exams.
This book was perfect for studying for the EAS. I have pretty bad test anxiety and I found the book very helpful. I passed my exam on the first go. The two practice tests were great and so were the explanations at the end as to why each answer is correct or incorrect.
I used this book as my exclusive study guide for the EAS (201) test. The practice tests matched the exam exactly. The real value here is the author's explanations to the correct answers for each practice test question. I took each practice test and then thoroughly reviewed the answers I got wrong by studying the explanations provided. When I retook the practice tests I was able to answer most of the questions correctly (not too hard since I had seen the questions and the answers before). However - and most importantly - I passed the actual test on the first try, with many points to spare. I recommend this book and this strategy.
A useful text for the EAS. I wish there was more information and practice tests for the CST. The edtpa in the book is a one page overview.
It didn't really help me prepare for the test but the practice questions were kind of helpful... although related content didn't really appear on the test. (I only used the book to prepare for my EAS and CST exams)
This is the go to book to pass your exams however if you need more in-depth help with a specific subject you can buy that specific content specialty test practice exam for example I needed help with the math so I bought a separate book in addition to this one
