Some simply take advantage of the political & economic situation at the time.For Fidel Castro to come to power from a not so great start in life is amazing . He molded Cuba into a hard line communist state with ties to the Soviet Union . But, at the same time his people were poor & living in poverty . History will be the judge of this.Great research on the part of the Captivating History staff! Another job well done !

Amazing book, I've seen the documentary about Cuba and Fidel Castro but this book is way more in depth love the way the author Matt Clayton writes this book it keeps you wanting to read more. Well put together a must have for any history lover.
Very detailed and interesting
I like the extensive background information of the History of Old Cuba, but I didn't get enough background of the new and current Cuba such as Censorship in using the internet, political action groups like the Ladies in White, etc.
